Sundays

Eucharist (Holy Communion) 10:00 a.m. every Sunday.  Fellowship time follows in Durkee Hall with good food and fresh coffee, etc.; first Sunday of the month is a Potluck dinner: everyone is welcome

Thursdays

Contemplative Prayer 7:00 p.m. in the Taizé style.  Come any time after 6:00 for a simple Soup supper (free), then spend a half hour is candelight, song, silence and contemplation.

Wednesday Bible Study 

Our weekly adult Bible:  The Gospel According to John. We meet in Hoick Conference Room (near parking lot).  Studies are open, discussion style. No advance preparation is required!  Everyone welcome any time! 

6:30 p.m.  Potluck Supper in Hoick Conference Room 
7:15 p.m.  Prayer and Bible Study (concluding by 8:30 p.m.)

 Sunday,  August 15, 2:00 p.m.  First Annual North New Hampshire Block Party: food, fun, live jazz music, prizes, face painting, magic show, and old-fashiond neighborliness!  Open to all; free.
 Sunday, June 27, 5:00 p.m.  Hollywood Call Back ~ mixer for Hollywood hopefuls and professionals.  Two speakers coming to discuss their current projects. Details found at www.HollywoodCallBack.org.
 First Friday, June 4, Los Feliz Art Walkexhibit and musical presentation of Beatitudes Banner and other serigraphs by Sister Corita, on loan from the Corita Art Center, as part of a multi-venue Art Walk Corita festival celebrating 40th Anniversary of Immaculate Heart Community. Reception and live music. Ongoing exhibit through August 31.
 Sunday, May 23 2010: The Day of Pentecost~ an ecumenical Celebration of the living Spirit in our midst. Wear red!! Your spirit will be refreshed and lifted with music, word and sacrament.
 "First Friday", May 7, 2010, Los Feliz Art Walk:  Opening Exhibit of Imagine East Hollywood, a project of Cindy Marie Jenkins.  On exhibit through June 30.

 
 Thursday, April 22, Ecumenical Taizé-style Contemplative Prayer resumes.  6:00 p.m. for light Soup supper (free) and 6:30 for prayer and song.  Bring your instrument, your candle, and things that weigh n your heart.  Concludes with Prayers for Healing.

Easter Sunday, April 4, 2010: The Resurrection of Our Lord; Festival Worship at 10:00 a.m.  Our holiest day in the calendar, and ecumenical service of praise, choirs, bells, joy and hope!  We celebrate with Old St. Michael's and American Catholic Churches.

Good Friday, April 2, 2010 at 7:30 p.m.   Solemn rememrance of the judgment, crucifixion and death of Jesus, in prayerful thanksgiving for his victory upon the Cross.

Good Friday, April 2, 2010 at NOON:  Stations of the Cross.  Walk the 14 stations from the Judgment Hall to the burial of Jesus' broken body ~in prayerful reflection on his sacrificial gift of life for our sakes.
Maundy Thursday, April 1, 2010, 7:00 p.m.  Memorial of the the "Last Supper"; solemn Stripping of the Altar.  Joint service with Mt. Hollywood and Hollywood Independent Churches.
Holy Week (Monday-Thursday), March 29-April 2: Readings, Contemplation and Prayers at NOON (less than 20 minutes); the Sanctuary is open daily for individual prayer and reflection at any time.
Palm Sunday, March 28, 2010 at 10:00 a.m.:  Beginning of Passion Week (Holy Week), the most sacred week of the year for Christians.  Procession with Palms; Passion History and Eucharist.
Thursdays during Lent (February 25-March 25):  Join us at 6:00 p.m. for a simple free Soup Supper; and at 7:00 p.m. for Taizé Contemplative Prayer in the Santuary; a brief service of prayer, song and readings (no sermon).  No prior experience necessary!
February 17, 2010: Ash Wednesday, the Season of Lent:  This solemn experience of our mortality is a call to deepen our own sense of spirit and the spiritual quality of life, so that gratitude for life, not fear of death, guides our days. Services at Noon and 7:00 p.m.
February 16, 2010  Shrove Tuesday Pancack Supper, 6:00 p.m.: The feast before the fast, our own little "fat Tuesday" -- come feast on pancacks and all the condiments you can want, in this annual guilt-free clean-the-refrigerator culinary event.
 February 16, 2010, Book Discussion 7:30 pm at Starbucks, corner of Vermont and Prospect Avenues.  We discuss Maercus Borg's refreshing The Heart of Christianity.  Book cost is $10. Continues every other Tuesday.
 January 24, 2010:  Reconciling in Christ Sunday:  our annual celebration of being a part of this vital program of Lutherans Concerned/North America and our welcome of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. 
 December 24, Christmas Eve Candlelight Service, 7:30 p.m. (family-friendly time slot). The most beautiful experience all year, with candles, choir, bells, and favorite carols. After a hectic season getting ready for Christmas, come and let your heart overflow with joy!!
 December 20, Fourth Sunday in Advent:  Traditional Advent Services of Lessons and Carols,10:00 a.m.

March 14, 2009, 9:00-3:330 p.m.: CPR FIRST AID TRAINING (American Red Cross) in Durkee Hall. Cost is $40, but there is some financial assistance available.  See details at top of this page.

January 25, 2009:  Reconciling in Christ Sunday:  our annual celebration of being a part of this vital program of Lutherans Concerned/North America and our welcome of people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. 
  January 18-25, 2009:  Week of Prayer for Christian Unity:  Observance of this ecumenical week is bracketed by the feast days of the Confession of St. Peter (January 18, representing the Catholic tradition) and the Conversion of St. Paul (January 25, representing the Protestant movement).
  December 28, 2008 (Holy Innocents Day):  Our Celebration of Christmas continues with  Christmas carols and communion ~ a day to enjoy the beauty of our Christmas season after the public display has ended.

December 13, Third Sunday in Advent:  Liturgy of the Ancient O-Antiphons 10:00 a.m.  Hollywood Wind Ensemble Christmas Concert/Sing-A-Long following.
December 6, Second Sunday in Advent:  Dramatic Reading of the Advent Story, observance of St. Nicholas' Day; gifts for children; as we look forward to the coming of Christ.
December 4, 6:00-9:00 p.m. Los Feliz Art Walk: ongoing exhibit of AIDS Memorial Quilt and art exhibit by local artists by our about people living with AIDS ~ in the Sanctuary and Courtyard Gallery.

November 29, First Sunday in Advent: Prayers for Healing, Litany for HIV/AIDS ~ Worship at 10:00 a.m.  Join us to begin our spiritual preparations for Christmas and the coming of Jesus Christ into the world.

November 22:  A Thanksgiving Service and Feast -- Join us to thank God for our lives and our bounty even in these hard times.  Pray and feast with our family in a Thanksgiving Potluck following worship.  A brief voters' "Annual Meeting" will follow.

November 8:  Dedication Day --  the 85th Anniversary of the Sanctuary's dedication in 1924.  We will also dedicate new paraments and gratefully remember the gifts we have received (people and memorial items) from Holy Trinity Community Church.

November 1, All Saints Day -- We remember those who have gone before us and are at rest in God's everlasting arms.  A candle will be lit as each name is called, and a bell solemnly rung. We commend all to God's compassion and lovingkindness.

October 25, 2009:  Reformation Sunday  -- We remember Dr. Martin Luther's courageous challenge to the religious establishment of his day.  New members will be received into our congregation this day.

October 18, 2009:  Mental Health Awareness Day.  Prayers and speakers for the diverse issues of mental illness which affect so many people:  depression, dementia and Alzheimer's disease, autism, etc.

October 15, 2008:  Second Teen Safety and Awareness Seminar,  jointly sponsored by Silverlake Children's Threatre Group, HLC and Greater Griffith Park Neighborhood Council; featuring: Kathleen Baty, author of "A Girls' Gotta Do What a Girl's Gotta Do".

October 4, 2009:  Annual Oktoberfest!  Join us for a good time, German food and a lot of laughter in the Courtyard.

October 3, 2009:  Annual Blessing of the Animals (feast day of St. Francis of Assisi) -- bringing together a neighborhood of animal lovers, pets, kids and fun.

September 17, 2009 (Thursday):  Seminar on Teen Safety and Awareness. Jointly sponsored with the Silverlake Children's Theatre Group, Greater Griffith Park Neighborhood Council and Los Angeles Police Dept. In Durkee Hall 7:00 p.m.

September 4, 2009:  Los Feliz Art Walk - celebrating the First Anniversary of the First Friday events in the community with a brand-new exhibition in the Courtyard Studio & Arts Gallery.

August 9, 2009:  Old-Fashioned Church Picnic in the Courtyard!  Planned Potluck:  hotdogs and brats provided.  Bring dish to share!  11:30 a.m.
 The Day of Pentecost, May 31, 2009:   a day of rejoicing in the gifts of the Holy Spirit and the mission of God's people on earth.  Wear red; bring your brightest spirit.
 Good Shepherd Sunday, May 3, 2009:  An annual day of celebration of Jesus' gentle compassion for all who are lost or strayed.  Holy Baptism will be celebrated for one of Jesus' little lambs!
